Was it ever going to be anyone else?
After dominating throughout the 2026 season, Milwaukee Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski will add another chapter to his storybook season when he takes the ball for Game 1 of the World Series on Friday (8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+).
Milwaukee made the news official on Tuesday, two days before the Fall Classic's media day at American Family Field.
The Tampa Bay Rays currently have their Game 1 starter listed as "TBD."
The 24-year-old Misiorowski will be pitching on 11 days' rest after last starting Game 1 of the Brewers' National League Championship Series sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers on Oct. 11.
Misiorowski has posted a 3.24 ERA across two starts in this post-season, tossing 4.1 innings of one-run ball against the Dodgers and allowing two runs over four innings against the San Diego Padres in the NLDS.
His playoff run comes on the heels of a regular season that has the six-foot-seven hurler positioned to win the NL Cy Young. Over 174 innings in 2026, "The Miz" racked up an MLB-best 252 strikeouts while carrying a 16-5 record and 1.80 ERA.
Despite failing to reach the lofty standard set by his regular-season success in these playoffs, Misiorowski has broken some records in October with his triple-digit heat. The very first pitch of his start against the Padres clocked in at 104.8 m.p.h. — the fastest post-season pitch since tracking began in 2008.
Misiorowski's fastball will have the chance to take down another record in the World Series. The fastest recorded pitch in a Fall Classic came on a 103.2-m.p.h. heater from Aroldis Chapman in 2016.
During the regular season, Misiorowski’s 1,115 pitches of 100 m.p.h. or more shattered the previous tracking-era record of 673 by Jordan Hicks in 2018.
