The Milwaukee Brewers are adding to their catching depth, acquiring Canadian Bo Naylor from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for reliever Craig Yoho, the teams announced Saturday.
Right-handed pitcher Codi Heuer is also joining Milwaukee, with outfielder Blake Perkins heading to Cleveland.
Naylor and Heuer have been assigned to the Brewers 40-man roster and assigned to triple-A Nashville. The Guardians have not determined where Perkins and Yoho will report.
Naylor, the Mississauga, Ont., native, has appeared in 28 games with the Guardians this season, hitting .200/.238/.438 with two home runs and seven RBI.
The 26-year old Naylor has spent his entire career in Cleveland but has struggled offensively the past three seasons. He was sent down to triple-A Columbus after the Guardians acquired Patrick Bailey from San Francisco and batted .225 with seven home runs in 45 games for Columbus.
Yoho has appeared in 15 games this season with the Brewers, where he has a 3.15 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 20 innings pitched. He has also appeared in 19 games in the minors, recording a 0.78 ERA with 29 strikeouts through 23 innings.
Perkins is hitting .157/.250/.258 with a home run and 11 RBI, while Heuer has appeared in eight games, striking out six through 9.2 innings.
