The Milwaukee Brewers were forced to finish Game 3 of the National League Championship Series without Jackson Chourio.
But the star outfielder said he expects to return for Game 4.
Faced with an 0-2 count against Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen in the seventh inning, Chourio fouled off a pitch and was in instant visible pain, favouring his right leg as he hopped out of the box.
The 21-year-old was forced to exit and replaced by Blake Perkins, who eventually struck out swinging.
However, Chourio said after the game that his exit was due to a cramp, and that he anticipates being back in the lineup on Friday.
Chourio has dealt with right hamstring issues this season, missing a chunk of the regular season and leaving Game 1 of the NLDS early.
He underwent an MRI during the NLDS and was able to return to Milwaukee's lineup for Game 2.
Before exiting on Thursday, Chourio was 0-for-3 as the entire Brewers offence struggled to solve Dodgers starter Tyler Glasnow. He was eventually credited for the Perkins strikeout, as well.
Los Angeles went on to win 3-1 to take a commanding 3-0 series lead.
Chourio has been a driving force for Milwaukee's run to the NLCS, as he entered Game 3 with a .973 OPS and four extra-base hits in these playoffs.
During the regular season, Chourio slashed .270/.308/.463 with 21 home runs and 21 stolen bases in 131 games.
