A Canadian will start in Washington on American Independence Day.
Calgary's Michael Soroka gets the nod for the Nationals in a July 4 matinée against the Boston Red Sox on Friday in the U.S. capital.
Soroka, 27, is 3-5 with a 4.70 ERA in his first season with the NL East squad.
The Red Sox will counter with former National Lucas Giolito, who has a 4-1 record and 3.99 ERA in his first year in Boston.

Washington is 37-50 overall and 18-25 in home games. The Nationals have the seventh-ranked team batting average in the NL at .247.
Boston has a 43-45 record overall and an 18-25 record in road games. The Red Sox have a 26-11 record in games when they scored five or more runs.
Friday's game is the first time these teams meet this season.
