Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll, New York Mets pitcher Kodai Senga and Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman were named the finalists for the National League Rookie of the Year award Monday night.
Carroll dominated the NL Rookie race while helping the Diamondbacks to the World Series. The 23-year-old became the first rookie ever to hit 25 home runs and steal 50 bases.
He tied for the NL rookie lead in home runs, and finished first in runs scored (116), stolen bases (54) and fWAR (6.0).
Senga was the best rookie pitcher in the National League after joining the Mets from NPB in the off-season. He threw 166.1 innings with a 12-7 record, 2.98 ERA and 202 strikeouts.
Outman hit 23 home runs and stole 16 bases for the Dodgers while slashing .248/.353/.437. The 26-year-old patrolled the outfield in 151 games for Los Angeles, helping it claim 100 wins and its 10th NL West title in the past 11 years.
