The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired closer Craig Kimbrel from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for outfielder A.J. Pollock.
Kimbrel joins the Dodgers, who lost closer Kenley Jansen to the Atlanta Braves this past off-season. ESPN's Jeff Passan reports that no money was exchanged between Los Angeles and Chicago with Kimbrel set to make $16 million this season while Pollock has a $10 million salary along with a $10 million player option that includes a $5 million buyout.
The White Sox traded for Kimbrel from the Chicago Cubs ahead of the trade deadline and he was used primarily in the eighth inning. With the Cubs, the 33-year-old had 23 saves in 25 opportunities but struggled in his move to the White Sox -- pitching to a 5.09 ERA through 23 innings.
In 117 games last season, Pollock slashed .297/.355/.536 with 21 home runs and 69 RBI.
