Even with their backs against the wall, the Los Angeles Dodgers won't turn to their top two starters for a must-win game on Thursday.
Both Tarik Skubal and Yoshinobu Yamamoto will not be available in relief for Game 4 of the National League Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers, manager Dave Roberts told reporters after the Dodgers' Game 3 loss on Wednesday.
Skubal started Game 1 of the NLCS, allowing two runs, striking out seven and walking two over five innings.
Yamamoto took the ball for Game 2 and uncharacteristically struggled. The 2025 World Series MVP lasted just 2.2 innings, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks.
Tyler Glasnow will take the bump for Game 4 with the Dodgers down 3-0 in the National League Championship Series.
The 33-year-old righty pitched 4.1 innings of one-run ball in his lone appearance this post-season — a National League Division Series clinching win over the Atlanta Braves. However, Glasnow's control was poor and he walked five batters.
The 2004 Boston Red Sox are the only team in MLB history to come back from a 3-0 series deficit.
The Brewers have yet to announce their starter as they look to complete the sweep and reach their second World Series in franchise history (8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+)
