Reinforcements are inbound for the Toronto Blue Jays' bullpen.
Relievers Erik Swanson and Ryan Burr are set to make their next rehab appearance for the triple-A Buffalo Bisons, manager John Schneider announced Friday.
Burr (shoulder) will take the mound on Sunday, while Swanson (elbow) is scheduled for Tuesday's game.
Toronto's bullpen ranks eighth in innings pitched (186.2) and 14th in ERA (3.71).
Starter Max Scherzer, who is battling a lingering thumb issue and back tightness, is at his home in Jupiter, Fla., and will throw bullpens on Saturday and Monday before rejoining the club in Texas next week.
Second baseman Andrés Giménez is also making progress in his rehab from a right quad injury; he faced live pitching in Dunedin, Fla., on Friday.
He has been out since May 7, when he was removed from a loss to the Los Angeles Angels after showing signs of discomfort following an infield single in the seventh inning.
Schneider announced on Wednesday that he would likely need a rehab stint before coming off the injured list.
Elsewhere in the Blue Jays system, reliever Nick Sandlin and starting pitcher Alek Manoah are lining up to throw bullpens on Saturday in Dunedin, Fla.
