After failing to clinch a post-season berth with back-to-back losses against the Kansas City Royals, the Toronto Blue Jays are hoping the third time's a charm on Sunday.
The Blue Jays scored only one run apiece in the first two games of the series and will need to reignite their offence to officially book themselves into October action.
It's win-and-in for the Blue Jays, as neither the Boston Red Sox nor Detroit Tigers can get to 91 wins due to their series against each other next week. Toronto holds the tiebreaker over both teams.
The Blue Jays can also clinch with a loss by all of the Tigers (vs. Atlanta Braves), Red Sox (vs. Tampa Bay Rays), and Guardians (at Minnesota Twins).
Toronto's No. 1 prospect Trey Yesavage will be on the bump for his second career MLB start after setting a franchise record with nine strikeouts in his big-league debut against the Rays on Sept. 15.

Kansas City sends Michael Wacha to the mound. The right-hander has a 3.79 ERA with 117 strikeouts and 41 walks over 161.2 innings this season, including pitching eight one-run innings against the Blue Jays at the start of August.
If the Blue Jays get in, it will mark the first time they have appeared in the post-season since 2023, when they were downed by the Minnesota Twins in the wild-card round.
The Blue Jays shouldn't take their foot off the gas, however, since the AL East divisional title — and a first-round bye — is still on the table.
Heading into Sunday's action, the Blue Jays are up two games on the second-place New York Yankees, and up four games on the Red Sox.
