Joey Votto likes what Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is doing in the wake of the Toronto Blue Jays star's comments regarding contracts and expected production.
The now-retired Canadian one-time National League MVP praised Guerrero's apology to Blue Jays fans on Friday.
"A message from players," a tweet from Votto read. "We give to our communities, love the cities we play for, and are always thinking of the fans."
Votto was initially critical of Guerrero in light of the Blue Jays first baseman's comments to Veronica Batista of Noticias Telemicro, saying those comments were not Guerrero "at his best."
However, with Guerrero opting for the route of an apology to the fans Friday, the Toronto-born Votto gave "kudos" to Guerrero for making what he believes was the right decision.
The Blue Jays play out their season-finale series against the Cincinnati Reds, Votto's old team, beginning Friday at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
