A pair of former Blue Jays relievers are among three Angels players on the restricted list for this weekend's series in Toronto.
Left-hander Aaron Loup, right-hander Ryan Tepera and third-baseman Taylor Ward were added to the list, suggesting they do not have the required COVID-19 vaccines to cross the border.
Loup was in the Toronto bullpen for the first seven years of his career from 2012 to '18. He has made 51 appearances for the Angels this season and has a 4.05 ERA with 48 strikeouts in 46.2 innings.
Tepera also began his career with the Blue Jays, spending five seasons in the bullpen between 2015 and '19. This season he has a 3.80 ERA in 46 appearances for the Angels, including two saves.
Ward is having a career year at the plate and has frequently been the Angels' lead-off hitter this season. In 101 games he is hitting .261/.351/.447 with 17 home runs and 46 RBI.
The Blue Jays will hand Mitch White the ball Friday night for the first of three games this weekend against the Angels. You can watch the game on Sportsnet and SN NOW beginning at 7:07 p.m. ET/ 4:07 p.m. PT.
