The Seattle Mariners will be without one of their most important arms in the ALDS.
Mariners ace Bryan Woo, who has been dealing with pectoral inflammation, was left off the team's 26-man roster as it gets set to take on the Detroit Tigers on Saturday.
Woo missed the final week of the regular season with the injury but has been steadily working on making a return. On Thursday afternoon, he threw off the mound for the first time since Sept. 19 but made it clear he's taking his recovery "day by day."
The 25-year-old had a stellar campaign, earning his first all-star nod while pitching to a 2.94 ERA with a 15-7 record and 198 strikeouts in 186.2 innings.

He won't be eligible to pitch until the American League Championship Series, should the Mariners manage to advance past the Tigers.
As it stands, the Mariners — who qualified as the second seed in the AL — will turn to George Kirby for Game 1 against starter Troy Melton and the Tigers. Seattle is expected to start Luis Castillo in Sunday's Game 2 showdown, with Bryce Miller or Logan Gilbert in line for Games 3 or 4.
