Perhaps Josh Naylor pictured that moment growing up.
The Mississauga, Ont., native blasted a seventh-inning home run at Rogers Centre to give his Seattle Mariners a 9-3 lead over the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 2 of the ALCS on Monday.
In doing so, he became the first Canadian-born player to ever homer against the Blue Jays in the post-season.
He also became the first visiting Canadian to launch a dinger against the hometown team. Naylor, 28, joins Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Russell Martin and Michael Saunders as Canadian-born players to hit playoff home runs in their home country.
And while the Canadian crowd wasn't exactly thrilled to witness history, Naylor's family — seated behind the Mariners' dugout — sure seemed to enjoy it.
"I was very thankful to get some hits, help the team out. Super cool to do it in front of my family, too," Naylor said post-game. "Very blessed to have them all here, all my friends, and it was a really cool moment for them."
