The Mets have claimed Blue Jays infielder Luis De Los Santos off waivers, New York announced Monday.
De Los Santos got his first taste of MLB this past season in Toronto, slashing .176/.226/.241 with one RBI in 31 plate appearances. He split time between third base, first base and left field in his 13 games with the Blue Jays.
He spent most of last season with triple-A Buffalo, slashing .260/.375/.441 and had six home runs with 16 RBIs in 43 games. He helped all across the infield with the Bisons, picking up starts at first, second, third and shortstop this past year.
The 26-year-old has been in the Blue Jays system since signing with them as an international player in 2015.
He is a native of Bajos de Haina in the Dominican Republic.
