DENVER — Michael Harris II capped Atlanta’s comeback from a six-run deficit with a two-run homer in the ninth inning, and the Braves beat the Colorado Rockies 8-6 on Friday night.
Mauricio Dubon had two hits, including a bases-loaded triple in a four-run eighth inning, and Matt Olson homered for Atlanta, which gave manager Walt Weiss a win in his return to Coors Field.
Weiss went 283-365 in four seasons as Colorado’s manager before being replaced by Bud Black following a 75-87 record in 2016. He served as bench coach for Atlanta for eight seasons before taking over as manager when Brian Snitker stepped down at the end of 2025.
He has guided the Braves a 23-10 start — the best in the majors.
Atlanta trailed 6-1 after six but scratched out a run in the seventh and tied it in the eighth after Zach Agnos and Jaden Hill walked the bases loaded with one out. Dubon tripled into the right-field corner and scored on a sacrifice fly to tie it.
Juan Mejia (0-3) walked Jonah Heim leading off the ninth and the pinch hitting Harris homered to right to complete the comeback.
Didier Fuentes (1-0) pitched an inning for the win Robert Suarez pitched the ninth to pick up his fourth save.
Colorado built a 6-0 lead with five runs in the first inning and Mickey Moniak’s solo homer in the second. Matt Olson’s homer in the fourth made it 6-1.
CUBS 6, DIAMONDBACKS 5
CHICAGO — Michael Busch had two hits and two RBIs, helping Colin Rea and Chicago top Arizona.
Alex Bregman added a run-scoring double as banged-up Chicago posted its third consecutive win. Rea (4-1) scattered eight hits over 5 1/3 innings.
Cubs second baseman Nico Hoerner departed in the second because of neck tightness. Hoerner is off to a terrific start this year, batting .297 with four homers and 26 RBIs while playing his usual stellar defence.
Arizona’s Ildemaro Vargas extended his career-best hitting streak to 27 games, but the Diamondbacks lost for the seventh time in their last 10 games. Vargas went 4 for 4 with four singles and a walk, raising his batting average to .404.
Arizona trailed 6-1 before rallying in the sixth. Jorge Barrosa hit an RBI double off Ryan Rolison before Geraldo Perdomo connected for a three-run homer that landed in the basket in left field.
RAYS 3, GIANTS 0
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Yandy Diaz and Junior Caminero homered to back six strong innings from Shane McClanahan and Tampa Bay beat San Francisco.
Diaz led off the second against Robbie Ray (2-4) with his fifth home run for a 1-0 lead.
Caminero led off the fourth with his ninth homer — a 432-foot shot to left field — to make it 2-0.
Taylor Walls doubled leading off the sixth and stole third before scoring on Chandler Simpson’s sacrifice fly to cap the scoring.
McClanahan (3-2) didn’t run into trouble until the fifth when Rafael Devers and Jung Hoo Lee had singles to put runners on the corners with one out. The 29-year-old left-hander induced a double-play grounder from Jerar Encarnacion to end the threat. He allowed five hits and struck out five.
Ian Seymour and Cole Sulser each pitched a scoreless inning and Bryan Baker retired the side in order in the ninth for his seventh save in nine opportunities.
RED SOX 3, ASTROS 1

Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy, who replaced fired manager Alex Cora last weekend, got the victory in his first Fenway Park game.
Carlos Correa homered into the Green Monster seats and had three hits for Houston, which has lost five of its last seven games.
Bennett (1-0), a 25-year-old left-hander who was called up from Triple-A Worcester, gave up a run on five hits, striking out three and walking two. He fanned slugger Yordan Alvarez for his first big-league strikeout in the first inning.
Aroldis Chapman, the fourth reliever, got the final three outs for his sixth save, and 373rd of his career.
Astros starter Mike Burrows (1-4) gave up eight hits and three runs over six innings.
YANKEES 7, ORIOLES 2
NEW YORK — Ben Rice and José Caballero homered, Will Warren won his third straight start and New York beat Baltimore for its 11th victory in 13 games, overcoming a home run by Pete Alonso in his return to the Big Apple.
Caballero, making the most of his chance to play while shortstop Anthony Volpe recovers from shoulder surgery, broke a 1-1 tie when he hit a solo shot in the second off Cade Povich (1-1).
Rice hit a three-run drive later in the inning, giving him 11 homers and 26 RBIs.
Warren (4-0) allowed two runs — one earned — and three hits in 6 1/3 innings with nine strikeouts and one walk, lowering his ERA to 2.39. The Yankees improve to an AL-best 21-11 and 5-0 in home series openers.
Fernando Cruz, Camilo Doval and Jake Bird finished a three-hitter.
Cody Bellinger put the Yankees ahead with an RBI double in the first but Alonso tied the score when he led off the second with his fifth homer, driving a sinker into the second deck in right field. Alonso left the New York Mets during the offseason for a $155 million, five-year contract with the Orioles.
RANGERS 5, TIGERS 4
DETROIT — Danny Jansen homered and Josh Jung drove in two runs as Texas defeated Detroit Tigers on a rainy night.

BREWERS 6, NATIONALS 1
WASHINGTON — William Contreras had four hits for the second straight game, Jacob Misiorowski had a no-hitter through 5 1/3 innings before leaving with a right hamstring cramp and Milwaukee beat Washington.
Contreras became the seventh player in Brewers history to have four hits in back-to-back games and the first since Casey McGehee in 2010. Contreras went 4 for 5 with three RBIs — after going 4 for 4 with a homer and four RBIs in a 13-1 victory over the Diamondbacks on Thursday.
Misiorowski left the game after throwing a 98.9 m.p.h. fastball to James Wood. Aaron Ashby entered the game and struck out Wood before Luis García Jr. grounded out to end the inning.
Misiorowski (2-2) struck out eight, including García in the first inning on a 102.3 m.p.h. fastball. He worked a hitless outing for the first time since a five-inning stint June 12 against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Nationals got their first hit in the seventh on Daylen Lile’s one-out double — to break a string of 15 straight batters retired by Milwaukee pitchers. Left fielder Blake Perkins missed on a diving attempt to catch Lile’s double.
PHILLIES 6, MARLINS 5
MIAMI — Zack Wheeler struck out eight over six strong innings of one-run ball, Bryson Stott homered and Philadelphia beat Miami.
Alec Bohm and Edmundo Sosa each had two hits and drove in a run to help the Phillies improve to 4-0 under interim manager Don Mattingly.
In his second appearance since beginning the season on the injured list, Wheeler (1-0) scattered three hits and walked two. Wheeler underwent surgery in September after a blood clot was discovered in his right shoulder and made his season debut with a five-inning outing against Atlanta on April 26.
Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber, who began Friday with an NL-leading 11 homers, struck out five times.
Sosa’s RBI single and Stott’s three-run homer off reliever Cade Gibson in the seventh made it 6-1. Bryce Harper doubled and scored when Sosa hit a line drive to centre. Gibson then plunked Brandon Marsh on the right elbow with a 91 m.p.h. fastball before Stott connected with a drive over the right-field wall.
The Marlins narrowed the deficit on Otto López’s RBI single, Liam Hicks’ sacrifice fly and Agustín Ramírez’s run-scoring single against relievers Jonathan Bowlan and José Alvarado in the eighth.
Javier Sanoja walked to lead off the ninth against Phillies closer Brad Keller. Jakob Marsee and Kyle Stowers struck out before López narrowed the deficit with an RBI single. Keller retired Xavier Edwards on a flyout to centre for his first save.

Byron Buxton homered for the fourth time in five games, but Minnesota lost for the 12th time in 15 games.
Okamoto hit a solo shot to lead off the fourth inning and added a two-run shot in the fifth to make it 6-2. It is the first multi-homer game for Okamoto, who signed a four-year, $60 million contract with Toronto in January. He hit 248 home runs during his 11-year career in Japan.
He nearly added a third home run in the ninth inning, but the ball was caught on the warning track.
Corbin (1-0), who made 30 starts for Texas last year and signed with Toronto on April 3 to help a rotation battered by early-season injuries, scattered six hits and struck out four.

PITTSBURGH — Henry Davis hit his first two home runs of the season, Mitch Keller pitched seven innings of three-hit ball, and Pittsburgh defeated Cincinnati to end a five-game losing streak.
Davis homered in consecutive innings. He hit a solo shot to centre field in the fourth that pushed the Pirates’ lead to 4-0 and connected on a two-run drive to left field that capped a four-run fifth and made it 8-0.
It was the second career two-homer game for Davis, who also scored three runs after entering the game with a .154 batting average.
Keller (3-1) allowed one run, struck out six and walked one. His 104 pitches were the most thrown by a Pirates pitcher this season.
Bryan Reynolds and Marcell Ozuna also homered for Pittsburgh as the Pirates sent the NL Central-leading Reds to their fifth loss in 16 games. Reynolds hit a 443-foot solo shot to the shrubbery in centre field in the first inning to open the scoring, and Ozuna had a two-run blast in the fifth.
