Major League Baseball's annual Winter Meetings have arrived.
With a number of top free agents still available on the open market, the baseball world gathering in Orlando, Fla., this week sets the stage for teams to begin, or continue, their off-season shopping.

Wednesday, Dec. 10
6:15 p.m. ET — Yankees, Red Sox and Orioles amongst teams in on Peralta
After it was previously reported that the Milwaukee Brewers are open to dealing their ace, the Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants and Houston Astros are amongst the teams in on right-hander Freddy Peralta according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon. Peralta was an all-star last season and posted a career-best 2.70 ERA. The New York Mets are also believed to be interested, though it’s unclear how willing some teams are to meet the Brewers’ asking price, Rosenthal and Sammon added.
6:00 p.m. ET — Dodgers 'kick the tires' on Teoscar Hernández trade
Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes initially said on Monday that a trade involving Teoscar Hernández "doesn't feel likely." However, The Athletic's Katie Woo and Fabian Ardaya reported that the Dodgers continue to “kick the tires” on trading Hernández. Woo and Ardaya add that the Kansas City Royals have coveted an outfield bat and have interest in Hernández.
3:15 p.m. ET — Mets could pursue Tyler Rogers
The Mets may not have to look that far to find some bullpen help. After acquiring submarine-throwing righty Tyler Rogers at the deadline, the New York Post's Jon Heyman reported that New York is "showing interest" in bringing the free agent back. Rogers posted a 1.98 ERA over 77.1 innings in 2025 and has a "very strong market," Heyman added.
2:45 p.m. ET — Orioles remain interested in Suárez
After adding Pete Alonso on a five-year contract, the Orioles may not be done. Andy Kostka of The Baltimore Banner reports that the Alonso signing "does not end" the O's' interest in free-agent starter Ranger Suárez.
12:30 p.m. ET — Polanco wants four-year deal from Mariners
After a 26-homer season in the Pacific Northwest, second baseman Jorge Polanco and the Mariners have been in talks about a reunion in free agency. However, the two sides are currently at a standstill in the length of a potential deal, according to Adam Jude and Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times. Their report says Seattle is offering a two-year contract, while Polanco is seeking four years.
11:30 a.m. ET — Red Sox, Yankees, Braves inquire on Seager
With the Rangers trying to address multiple needs on their roster and scale back payroll, they have been receiving calls on star shortstop Corey Seager. The Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant reports that the Red Sox, Yankees and Braves are among the teams to have inquired about Seager's availability, but added that no meaningful talks have developed.
10 a.m. ET — Guardians intend to keep Kwan for 2026
Despite speculation that all-star outfielder Steven Kwan could be available in trade, ESPN's Buster Olney writes that Cleveland's "intention is to keep him into next season." Olney adds that the Guardians are more likely to be active later in the winter, when it comes to free agency.
8:30 a.m. ET — Phillies have extended offer to Realmuto
With Kyle Schwarber returning to Philadelphia, the Phillies appear to be trying to get the whole band back together. According to MLB.com's Todd Zolecki, Philadelphia has "an offer on the table" to catcher J.T. Realmuto, who has spent the past seven seasons behind the plate for the Phillies.
Tuesday, Dec. 9
8:45 p.m. ET — Orioles among potential suitors for Marlins' Cabrera
The Marlins are reportedly looking to trade emergent starter Edward Cabrera and are in talks with the Orioles, among other clubs, according to a report from The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon. Cabrera broke out in 2025, recording a 3.53 ERA with 150 strikeouts and 48 walks over 137.2 innings in his age-27 season, initially leading to speculation he would be moved at last season's trade deadline. He has three years of team control remaining and is projected to make $3.7 million in arbitration in 2026.
8:30 p.m. ET — Red Sox check in on Dominguez
The Red Sox have checked in on Seranthony Dominguez, according to MassLive's Sean McAdam and Chris Cotillo. The report states that while adding power is the Red Sox's priority, there is a possibility that Boston adds a veteran reliever or two to bridge the gap to its backend duo of Garrett Whitlock and Aroldis Chapman. Dominguez had a 3.16 ERA with 79 strikeouts and 36 walks over 62.2 innings split between the Blue Jays and Orioles last season. He also has experience pitching in the World Series, both in 2022 with the Phillies and 2025 with the Blue Jays.
8:10 p.m. ET — Tucker predicted to end up in Toronto
Chicago-based ESPN insider Jesse Rogers was candid about where he thinks Kyle Tucker will end up during an appearance on ESPN 1000's "Waddle and Silvy." Rogers said, "I do think he'll end up in Toronto," adding that "it's just not going to be for the massive, massive deal that maybe a year ago people thought, or he even thought."
8 p.m. ET — Red Sox actively pursuing trades for all-star calibre talent
The Red Sox have discussed trades for at least four different all-stars: Ketel Marte, Corey Seager, Isaac Paredes and Brendan Donovan, Tim Healey and Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reported on Tuesday.
8 p.m. ET — Red Sox out on Bichette unless market changes
After Boston reportedly had a recent Zoom call with Bo Bichette, the two parties are apparently not seeing eye to eye, as the Red Sox are not in on Bichette unless his market changes, per Julian McWilliams of CBS Sports. Bichette's ability to remain at shortstop is in question due to him grading out negatively at the position over the course of his career thus far.
7:30 p.m. ET — Speculation intensifies around Astros infielders
After Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters that the team plans for star slugger Yordan Alvarez to "spend most of the season" at DH, speculation has grown that one of Isaac Paredes or Christian Walker will be dealt, The Athletic's Chandler Rome wrote on Tuesday. The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported that Paredes has drawn interest from the Red Sox. Boston could be a suitable trade partner for Houston as it has a bevy of young, controllable starters, and the Astros are potentially looking to replace Framber Valdez.
5 p.m. ET — Mets 'hesitant' to give Alonso more than three years
After losing Díaz to L.A., the Mets may have some extra money to pursue another late-game reliever and a reunion with Pete Alonso, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. However, Feinsand added that the sticking point between New York and the first baseman may be term, as the team is hesitant to give the franchise leader in home runs more than three years in a deal.
3:30 p.m. ET — Three teams 'consistent' in pursuit of Cardinals' Donovan
With St. Louis canvassing the trade market for Brendan Donovan, the Mariners, Giants and Royals have been among the "most consistent" in their interest in the all-star utility man, according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch's Derrick Goold. Donovan appears to be one of the most attractive trade pieces available this winter, as he still has two years of team control and has experience playing all over the diamond.
3:00 p.m. ET — Orioles matched Phillies' offer for Schwarber
Looking to return to the playoffs after a disappointing season, Baltimore was among the leading bidders for Kyle Schwarber. The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal wrote that the Orioles matched the five-year, $150-million offer that the Phillies gave to retain Schwarber's services. Rosenthal added that the Reds also offered five years, but their offer came in around $125 million.
2:15 p.m. ET — Tigers have interest in Ha-Seong Kim
Coming off a second straight playoff appearance, the Tigers appear to be in the market for some offensive upgrades. The Detroit Free Press's Evan Petzold reports that the team has interest in free-agent shortstop Ha-Seong Kim, who opted out of a $16-million player option earlier this off-season.
2 p.m. ET — Red Sox, Padres, Cubs could make trade soon
Things seem to be picking up in Orlando on the free-agent front, but ESPN's Jesse Rogers says the "trade winds continue to swirl." He pointed to the Red Sox, Padres and Cubs as teams "that could make a deal soon."
12:30 p.m. ET — Mets offered Díaz $66 million
After Edwin Díaz reportedly agreed to a three-year, $69-million deal with the Dodgers, the New York Post's Joel Sherman reported that the Mets offered their former closer a three-year, $66-million contract with modest deferrals.
12:15 p.m. ET — Alonso has 'great interest' in playing at Fenway
With the Red Sox scheduled to meet with first baseman Pete Alonso on Tuesday at the Winter Meetings, The Boston Globe's Peter Abraham reports that Boston's clear priority is retaining third baseman Alex Bregman. But added that Alonso has "great interest" in playing at Fenway Park.
10:45 a.m. ET — Dodgers join Edwin Díaz chase
Star closer Edwin Díaz continues to draw attention from some of baseball's big spenders, and now the Dodgers are in the mix, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman. Coming off a 2025 in which he saved 28 games and posted a 1.63 ERA in 66.1 innings, Díaz is generating "serious interest" from the reigning World Series champs, the Mets and Blue Jays.
8:15 a.m. ET — Pirates offer to Schwarber in $120-million range
As the Pirates seek out offensive upgrades in free agency, The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reports that they have offered NL MVP runner-up Kyle Schwarber the largest contract in franchise history. Schwarber is also reportedly being pursued by the Phillies, Red Sox, Reds and Mets, so it remains to be seen if Pittsburgh's offer will compete.
Monday, Dec. 8
9:45 p.m. ET — Bichette has Zoom call with Red Sox
According to Ari Alexander of 7News Boston, Bichette and the Red Sox "had a Zoom recently." Alexander added that the meeting went well on both sides, that Bichette came away impressed with the Red Sox, and that Boston has shown to be serious about the free agent. Bichette entered free agency for the first time at age 27 after a 2025 season where he finished second in MLB in both hits and doubles despite missing the final 20 games of the season due to a sprained knee.
9:30 p.m. ET — Mets check in with Schwarber amid Alonso silence
After it was reported that the Mets will not talk to all-time franchise home run leader Pete Alonso at the Winter Meetings, the New York Post's Jon Heyman wrote that the team checked in with slugger Kyle Schwarber. ESPN's Buster Olney added that the "perception in some corners of the industry" is that Schwarber could be the first star position player to sign. The 32-year-old hit free agency fresh off his first 50-home run season, also posting career-highs with 132 RBIs and a .928 OPS.
8:30 p.m. ET — Brewers receiving interest in Peralta, Megill
MLB's No. 1 regular-season team in 2025 is reportedly open to dealing its ace, Freddy Peralta, for a steep return, the New York Post's Joel Sherman wrote. Sherman added that Milwaukee is also getting calls about its all-star closer, Trevor Megill, including inquiries from both the Mets and Yankees.
7:15 p.m. ET — Astros targeting Rays starter Shane Baz
With one of Houston's top starters, Framber Valdez, hitting the open market, Rays right-hander Shane Baz has reportedly emerged as a trade target for the Astros, according to The Athletic's Chandler Rome. Baz, a Houston native, fits the profile the Astros are seeking as a young, controllable starting pitcher.
7 p.m. ET — Orioles seek impact bat in addition to starting pitching
In addition to expressing interest in top free-agent starting pitchers – including Ranger Suárez, Michael King and Tatsuya Imai – Orioles general manager Mike Elias told reporters that the team is "talking to a whole bunch of hitters." Elias added that positional fit is secondary to adding talent, and that the Orioles have conversations going on "mostly in free agency, but also some in trades," per The Baltimore Banner's Andy Kostka.
6:45 p.m. ET — Dodgers don't 'anticipate' trading Hernández
Despite reports in recent days that the Dodgers could be looking to move outfielder Teoscar Hernández, Los Angeles general manager Brandon Gomes said that a trade "doesn't feel likely," per ESPN's Alden González. Gomes admitted that talks of a Hernández deal have come up, but added it's "not something we anticipate." The 33-year-old took a step back in 2025, with his OPS dropping over 100 points from his all-star campaign in 2024. But Hernández still hit 25 homers and has two years remaining on the $66-million deal he signed last off-season.
6:15 p.m. ET — Angels open to adding another starter
After landing Grayson Rodriguez in a trade with the Orioles and signing Alek Manoah, the Angels are "still planning" to look at starting pitching, according to Fansided's Robert Murray. Los Angeles appears to have money to spend after sending Taylor Ward's $14-million contract to Baltimore.
6 p.m. ET — Phillies looking to move Castellanos
Phillies general manager Preston Mattingly wasn't hiding his intention to move veteran outfielder Nick Castellanos during an appearance on MLB Network Radio. Mattingly said Philadelphia has "looked to get Castellanos a change of scenery," following the 33-year-old's .694-OPS season.
5:45 p.m. ET — Mets have video meeting with Michael King
As New York looks to add starting pitching, it appears that Michael King could be one of its preferred options. The New York Post's Joel Sherman wrote that the Mets and King recently had a video meeting, exemplifying "a level of seriousness between the parties." Despite battling injury in 2025, King is one of the top starters available on the open market after posting a 3.10 ERA and 277 strikeouts in 247.0 innings over the past two seasons with the Padres.
5:30 p.m. ET — Red Sox stars Anthony, Crochet not expected to play in WBC
Two of Boston's top players aren't likely to be suiting up for the United States at the 2026 World Baseball Classic. Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow made the announcement that AL Cy Young runner-up Garrett Crochet and standout rookie Roman Anthony aren't expected to take part in the tournament, per MassLive's Chris Cotillo.
3:30 p.m. ET — Padres keeping Miller, Morejón, Morgan in bullpen
New Padres manager Craig Stammen told reporters that San Diego will not be converting relievers Mason Miller, Adrian Morejón and David Morgan to the rotation after the trio's strong seasons. ESPN's Alden González shared that means the Padres are 'very much' in the market for starting pitching.
3 p.m. ET — Blue Jays being 'quite thorough' in relief market
The Blue Jays continue to work the free-agent market with the Winter Meetings underway. Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith reports that Toronto is "being quite thorough in the relief market," writing earlier that it has interest in former Padres closer Robert Suarez.

1:45 p.m. ET — Tigers continue to talk Skubal
Could the two-time Cy Young winner really be on the move? ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Tigers "continue to have trade dialogue" about the ace southpaw, adding that Detroit's decision will come down to whether its front office prioritizes the opportunity to win in 2026 or the massive collection of young players it could receive in a Skubal package.
1:30 p.m. ET — Alonso to meet with interested teams in Orlando
Pete Alonso is joining the fray in Orlando. The New York Post's Mike Puma wrote that Alonso will meet with interested teams, including the Red Sox and Orioles, at the Winter Meetings on Tuesday. The "Polar Bear" opted out of his contract at the end of the season after hitting 38 homers and carrying an .871 OPS through 162 games for the Mets.
12:50 p.m. ET — Red Sox pull back on Joe Ryan pursuit
After attempting to trade for Twins starter Joe Ryan at the trade deadline, the Red Sox have softened their pursuit of the right-hander. WEEI's Rob Bradford reported that Boston has "drawn back" in attempting to pry Ryan from Minnesota after acquiring multiple starters via trade earlier this off-season.
Noon ET — Nats 'open' to moving Abrams, Gore
Under new president of baseball operations Paul Toboni, the Nationals are reportedly open to reshaping their roster. The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon reported that Washington is willing to discuss star left-hander MacKenzie Gore and shortstop CJ Abrams. Both players have multiple years of team control and are coming off strong performances in 2025.
10:45 a.m. ET — Blue Jays among teams interested in Diamondbacks' Marte
With the Diamondbacks reportedly open to moving on from second baseman Ketel Marte, the New York Post's Jon Heyman reports that the Blue Jays are among the teams interested in acquiring the all-star. Heyman also mentioned that other teams are in the mix, including the Red Sox, but no deal is imminent.
9:10 a.m. ET — Orioles interested in top free-agent starters
Baltimore has already been busy this off-season, acquiring Taylor Ward and Ryan Helsley, but the Orioles remain committed to adding to the top of their rotation. The Baltimore Banner's Andy Kostka reports that the Orioles "have expressed particular interest" in free-agent pitchers Ranger Suárez, Michael King and Tatsuya Imai.
9 a.m. ET — Padres entertaining trade for Canadian Nick Pivetta
Coming off a season in which he posted a 2.87 ERA and finished sixth in National League Cy Young voting, Victoria B.C.'s Nick Pivetta may be available for trade. The Athletic's Dennis Lin wrote that "the Padres have shown a willingness to entertain offers" for the right-hander as the team looks to rebalance its payroll.
8:10 a.m. ET — Mets 'reluctant' to hand out long-term deals to starters
Despite being sunk by their rotation's performance in 2025, the Mets are "reluctant to hand out long-term offers" to the top free-agent starting pitchers, according to Will Sammon of The Athletic. Sammon added that New York may look to the trade market for rotation help and would "likely" see someone like Pirates righty Mitch Keller as an upgrade to its current group.
