Newly acquired Brad Hand active for Blue Jays vs. Royals

Newly acquired pitcher Brad Hand will be active for the Toronto Blue Jays for Friday night's game against the Kansas City Royals.

Relief pitcher Kirby Snead was optioned to triple-A Buffalo and outfielder Jonathan Davis was designated for assignment in corresponding moves.

Hand, 31, has posted a 5-5 record with a 3.59 ERA, a 1.15 WHIP and 42 strikeouts in 42 2/3 innings of work with the Washington Nationals this season.

The reliever was acquired from the Nationals in exchange for Riley Adams on Thursday.
