The San Diego Padres have announced their starters for the first two games of their National League Division Series against the MLB-best Milwaukee Brewers.
Left-hander Robbie Ray will take the bump for Game 1 on Saturday and righty Michael King will get the ball for Game 2 on Sunday, the team announced on Friday. Watch both games on Sportsnet 360 or Sportsnet+ at 8:30 p.m. ET and 4 p.m. ET, respectively.
King will be starting Game 2 on only three days of rest.
The winner of the 2021 American League Cy Young award with the Toronto Blue Jays, Ray will be making his first post-season start since 2022 with the Seattle Mariners.
The 35-year-old pitched to a 3.59 ERA with 140 strikeouts and an MLB-leading 84 walks over 165.2 innings split between the San Francisco Giants and Padres.
Ray's ERA inflated to 5.02 in nine starts with San Diego after the trade deadline.
Meanwhile, King is coming off a dazzling performance in Game 1 of the Padres' wild-card series against the Chicago Cubs, where he struck out eight over seven innings of one-hit ball.
The 31-year-old sinker-baller was San Diego's most reliable starter this year, logging a 3.21 ERA with 159 strikeouts and 70 walks over 185 innings. He did not miss a start.
King has a career ERA of 2.05 in the post-season, with 27 strikeouts and just four walks over five appearances, three of them starts.
