The Tampa Bay Rays have placed ace pitcher Shane McClanahan on the 15-day injured list, the team announced Thursday.
The Rays are in the process of gathering further information and updates will be provided when available.
McClanahan's outing against the New York Yankees on Wednesday was cut short after the fourth inning due to forearm tightness.
“It’s one of those things where outside of it just kind of got tight and kind of grabbed me a little bit,” McClanahan said after the game.
The two-time All-Star allowed five runs and five hits in four innings against the Yankees and he is winless in his last six outings since June 16.
McClanahan has registered an 11-2 record with a 3.29 ERA and 121 strikeouts in 21 appearances during the 2023 season.
