The Boston Red Sox are set to get a first look at their big trade-deadline acquisition on Tuesday at Rogers Centre.
Boston plans on activating catcher Adley Rutschman from the injured list for Tuesday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays, manager Chad Tracy told reporters after Monday's loss.
The Red Sox landed Rutschman in a deadline-day blockbuster with the Baltimore Orioles, shipping top prospects Enddy Azocar, Anthony Eyanson and Kyson Witherspoon to their division rival in a package that also included a player to be named later and catcher Carlos Narváez.
Rutschman was on the injured list with wrist inflammation at the time of the deal and began a rehab assignment with triple-A Worcester over the weekend.
In the two-game stint, the three-time all-star went 1-for-5 with a double and two walks.
Before hitting the injured list, Rutschman was slashing .251/.331/3.433 with eight homers in 67 games for Baltimore.
