Los Angeles Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani will not be dealt prior to the trade deadline, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
With the Angels in the midst of a disastrous season, Ohtani's name has come up in the last few weeks as a possible trade candidate heading into Tuesday's 6 p.m. ET deadline.
Heyman had previously reported the New York Yankees were one of the teams to make a serious offer to the Angels, along with the Chicago White Sox and San Diego Padres.
The unanimous American League MVP last season, Ohtani is 9-6 with a 2.81 ERA on the mound this season and is slashing .255/.352/.495 with 22 homers and 62 RBI.
Ohtani's two-year, $8.5-million deal expires at the end of this season. He is then eligible for a final year of salary arbitration.
