The Houston Astros have agreed to terms on a six-year, $115 million contract extension with slugger Yordan Alvarez, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
The designated hitter's contract begins next season and will cover the 2023-28 seasons, making it the biggest contract ever for a DH.
Alvarez joins a list with only five other players since making his MLB debut on June 9, 2019 of those who have hit at least .280 with a .940 OPS or higher — the others are Mike Trout, Juan Soto, Bryce Harper, Fernando Tatis Jr., and Jose Ramirez.
Currently, Alvarez is batting .272/.367/.574 this season tallying 30 runs, 31 RBI and 14 home runs.
