Toronto Blue Jays all-star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will make his return to LIDOM (Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League) this week when he joins Leones del Escogido on Wednesday according to a report by Grandes en los Deportes and confirmed by ESPN Deportes.
Guerrero Jr. last suited up in LIDOM during the 2020 season, hitting .359 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 39 at-bats.
The 23-year-old will join a roster that features Blue Jays prospect Otto Lopez, Chicago Cubs outfielder Franmil Reyes and former all-star shortstop Starlin Castro.
Leones del Escogido play four games that Guerrero Jr. could potentially take part in. They play Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. ET, Thursday at 6:00 p.m. ET, Friday at 6:15 p.m. ET and Sunday at 4:00 p.m. ET to wrap up their regular season.
The first baseman is coming off a season in which he made his second all-star game appearance, won his first Gold Glove and hit .274 with 32 home runs and 97 RBI.
