The Toronto Blue Jays are one of the many teams that have interest in veteran Texas Rangers starting pitcher Lance Lynn, according to The Athletic‘s Ken Rosenthal.
Rosenthal notes the San Diego Padres and Chicago White Sox are among the other clubs with interest in the 33-year-old Lynn.
With MLB’s Aug. 31 trade deadline fast approaching, the Blue Jays will be checking in on many players in the days and hours leading up to 4 p.m. ET on Monday.
Toronto has already added starter Taijuan Walker and first baseman Daniel Vogelbach from the Seattle Mariners this week as the team looks to stay in playoff contention heading into the stretch run of the shortened 2020 campaign.
Despite the acquisition of Walker, starting pitching remains a need for the Blue Jays due to a string of injuries to the likes of Nate Pearson, Matt Shoemaker and Trent Thornton.
Lynn is 4-0 with a 1.59 earned-run average in seven starts for the Rangers this season. The Indianapolis native is 102-68 over his nine-year MLB career with a 3.52 ERA.
