The Los Angeles Dodgers announced Friday night that they have non-tendered two-time all-star Cody Bellinger.
It was reported earlier Friday by The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal that the team planned to non-tender the outfielder before the 8 p.m. ET deadline.
Bellinger was projected to make more than $18 million if he had gone to arbitration and now is set to become a free agent.
The 27-year-old outfielder won the NL MVP award in 2019 and won the Rookie of the Year award in 2017 with the Dodgers.
In six seasons with Los Angeles, Bellinger hit .248 with 152 home runs and 422 RBI.
Following the Dodgers' 2020 World Series victory, the former fourth-round pick underwent surgery to repair a dislocated shoulder.
Since that surgery, Bellinger has not been able to return to all-star level. In 144 games in 2022, he hit .210 with 19 home runs and struck out in a career-worst 27.3 per cent of his at-bats.
