The New York Mets are active again.
Former Seattle Mariners infielder Jorge Polanco agreed to a two-year, $40 million contract with the Mets, ESPN's Jeff Passan reported on Saturday.
Polanco is expected to play first base, replacing Pete Alonso, who signed with the Baltimore Orioles earlier this week, per Passan.
The 32-year-old had a strong season with the Mariners in 2025, batting .265 with 26 home runs and 78 RBIs in 138 games.
He was a star in the playoffs, hitting two home runs in one game against Detroit Tigers Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal before smacking the walk-off single later in Game 5 to send the Mariners to the ALCS.
A Dominican Republic native, Polanco spent most of his career in Minnesota, playing for the Twins from 2014-2023, and making one all-star game in 2019, before being traded to Seattle in early 2024.
For his career, Polanco slashes .263/.330/.442.
Polanco joins a star-studded Mets infield featuring Francisco Lindor, Jeff McNeil and recently acquired Marcus Semien, who was traded from the Texas Rangers in late November.
