Miami Marlins general manager Kim Ng felt she was losing power and underappreciated in the organization, leading to her departure on Monday, The Athletic's Brittany Ghiroli reported Tuesday.
Ng declined her mutual option to return for 2024 after the team exercised its option.
Ghrioli writes that one of the major issues was the team not offering her a new contract after the Marlins reached the playoffs this year for the first time in a full season since 2003.
The Marlins also reportedly wanted to hire a president of baseball operations, which would have forced Ng to relinquish some power.
The Athletic has reported Ng and owner Bruce Sherman were not united in their vision for baseball operations.
“In our discussions, it became apparent that we were not completely aligned on what that should look like and I felt it best to step away,” Ng told The Athletic on Monday.
Ghiroli reports there are rumours that the Chicago White Sox could be interested in hiring Ng for a president's role.
