The No. 1 pitching prospect in MLB is going to get his chance to show his stuff against big-league competition.
The Seattle Mariners are calling up left-hander Kade Anderson to start Saturday against the Chicago Cubs, ESPN's Jeff Passan reported Thursday.
Anderson was selected by the Mariners with the third-overall selection in the 2025 MLB Draft. He is the top-ranked pitching prospect in MLB and the No. 5 prospect overall, per MLB pipeline.
The 22-year-old has a sparkling 1.06 ERA over 93.1 innings at the double-A level this season. He has 135 strikeouts with just 13 walks and 47 hits allowed.
Anderson's promotion comes with the Mariners trying to keep pace in a crowded race for the final wild-card spot in the American League.
After making it to the ALCS last season, Seattle has disappointed in 2025 and sits three games out of a playoff spot.
