Rob Manfred is expected to have enough votes to be re-elected for another term as MLB commissioner, according to a report from The Athletic's Evan Drellich and Ken Rosenthal.
"It's a foregone conclusion," a person briefed on the vote told Drellich and Rosenthal. The vote is expected to take place at some point next week.
In order to be re-elected, Manfred needs a majority of the 30 owners to vote for him to stay on as commissioner.
Manfred, 65, was elected commissioner in 2014 when he took the place of Bud Selig. His current contract runs through Jan. 25, 2025.
If re-elected next week on another five-year term, Manfred would be in line to be commissioner until Jan. 25, 2030.
According to ESPN's Don Van Natta Jr., Manfred's annual compensation exceeds $25 million per year.
