The New York Mets have agreed to bring back reliever Adam Ottavino on a two-year, $14.5 million contract that includes an opt-out after the first year, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
Ottavino put together one of the best seasons of his career with the Mets in 2022. He threw 65.2 innings with a 2.06 ERA, striking out 79 hitters and walking just 16.
The 37-year-old is entering the 13th year of his big-league career. He previously spent time with the St. Louis Cardinals, Colorado Rockies, New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox before joining the Mets.
The 2006 first-round pick has thrown 625.1 career innings and posted a 3.44 ERA.
He re-joins the Mets who have been busy this off-season, already signing Justin Verlander, Kodai Senga, and Jose Quintana, while re-signing Edwin Diaz and Brandon Nimmo.
The team won 101 games in 2022 and lost in the NLDS to the San Diego Padres.
