The Philadelphia Phillies are making a deal with a divisional rival to strengthen their bullpen.
Brooks Raley is being traded by the New York Mets to the Phillies for right-handed pitcher Luke Gabrysh and outfielder John Spikerman, according to The Athletic's Jayson Stark.
The 38-year-old is having a strong 2026 season, posting a 1.96 ERA with 40 strikeouts in 41.1 innings pitched. In 149 appearances with the Mets, who acquired Raley from the Tampa Bay Rays, the southpaw had a 2.31 ERA.
Spikerman is the No. 27 prospect while Gabrysh fell outside MLB Pipeline's top-30 ranking.
Philadelphia is second in the NL East with a 59-53 record after a rough start to the season that led to the firing of manager Rob Thomson and Don Mattingly taking over. The Phillies currently hold a one-game lead on the San Diego Padres for the third and final NL wild-card spot.
