Another Chicago White Sox sell-off is underway.
The South Siders traded starting pitcher Adrian Houser to the Tampa Bay Rays for Curtis Mead and pitching prospects Duncan Davitt and Ben Peoples, the team announced Thursday.
Houser, 32, has been a lone bright spot in another down season for the White Sox, recording a sparkling 2.10 ERA over 11 starts in his first year with the team after signing a one-year, $1.35-million contract over the off-season.
The righty’s numbers represent a career best — his last season with an ERA under 4.00 came during 2021 with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Over nine years with the Brewers, New York Mets and White Sox, Houser is 38-41 with a 4.00 ERA and 1.36 WHIP over 677.1 innings.
Now, he’ll head to Tampa Bay as the Rays attempt to make a playoff push over the final two-plus months of the season.
For Chicago, which sits last in the AL Central again, the trade represents another lost season as the franchise continues to search for its first playoff berth since 2021.
