The Boston Red Sox have added some versatility to their roster in the form of utility man Marwin Gonzalez, per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.
Gonzalez spent the past two seasons with the Minnesota Twins after a seven-year run with the Houston Astros that culminated with a World Series title in 2017. According to Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi, the Toronto Blue Jays had shown interest in the free-agent utilityman.
The 31-year-old struggled at the plate in 2020, posting a .606 OPS.
Defensive versatility is his calling card, as the native of Venezuela has spent time at every defensive position except catcher over his career.
