A couple of Cincinnati Reds players went unclaimed on the waiver wire.
Third baseman Eugenio Suarez and outfielder TJ Friedl both cleared waivers and will stick with the Reds, C. Trent Rosencrans of The Athletic reported Thursday.
According to Rosencrans, both players will join the team in Chicago for their series against the Cubs on Friday.
Both players were placed on outright waivers on Wednesday.
Suarez, 35, still has some pop in his bat with 19 home runs, including a grand slam earlier Wednesday as the Reds rallied with seven runs in the ninth to stun the Giants 10-9. But for the season, he is hitting just .205/.294/.402 with a .696 OPS while also serving as the designated hitter more often than playing third base.
Friedl, 31, has a .476 OPS with just three home runs during a disappointing season in which he lost his centre field spot to Dane Myers.
