Three-time all-star reliever Liam Hendriks has agreed to a two-year, $10-million deal with the Boston Red Sox, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reported Monday
The deal, pending a physical, has up to $20 million in performance bonuses and has a mutual option for 2026, Feinsand reports.
Hendriks, 35, underwent Tommy John surgery last August as a member of the Chicago White Sox. Chris Cotillo of MassLive says he is targeting a return around the trade deadline this August.
In January 2023, Hendriks announced he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and was beginning treatment. Last April, he announced he was cancer-free.
The Australian-born right-hander made only five appearances with the White Sox last season before suffering an elbow injury.
For his career, Hendriks is 33-34 with a 3.82 ERA, 116 saves, 727 strikeouts and 159 walks with the White Sox, Oakland A's, Toronto Blue Jays, Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals.
