The San Francisco Giants are making yet another addition to their pitching staff.
Right-handed starter Tyler Mahle has agreed to a one-year deal with the Giants, MLB.com's Mark Feinsand reported Wednesday.
Mahle, 31, was hampered by a right-shoulder strain in the 2025 campaign with the Texas Rangers, but logged a sparkling 2.18 ERA and 1.131 WHIP in 16 starts. He missed more than three months with the injury from June to mid-September.
The Newport Beach, Calif., native has dealt with a bevy of injuries over the past three seasons, causing him to make only five starts in 2023 with the Minnesota Twins and three in 2024 with the Rangers while recovering from Tommy John surgery.
Since debuting with the Cincinnati Reds in 2017, Mahle has a 39-46 record with a 4.07 ERA and 1.286 WHIP over 142 appearances at the major-league level. He was traded to the Twins in 2022 for a package that included infielders Christian Encarnacion-Strand and Spencer Steer.
He now joins a rotation with Logan Webb, Robbie Ray and fellow free-agent acquisition Adrian Houser, who signed a two-year, $22-million deal on Dec. 16.
