Twins acquiring starter Dean Kremer from Orioles

Pete Alonso tallied two hits, including his 23rd homer of the season, while Gunnar Henderson delivered a two-RBI triple in the seventh to secure a 6-4 win for the Baltimore Orioles over the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Minnesota Twins continue to fortify their pitching staff ahead of the trade deadline.

One day after landing reliever A.J. Minter from the Mets, the Twins have now reportedly acquired starter Dean Kremer from the Baltimore Orioles.

Ken Rosenthal from The Athletic was first to report the trade.

The Orioles are acquiring 18-year-old outfielder Jhomnardo Reyes, who was the Twins' No. 24 prospect on MLB Pipeline.

Kremer, 30, has been limited to just seven starts this season due to a right quad strain. He returned to the rotation in early July and has a 6.50 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 36 innings pitched.

Kremer has spent his entire seven-year career with the Orioles and will be a free agent this winter.

The Twins are competing with the Astros and Guardians for the final wild-card spot in the American League. The Orioles are only one game back of those three teams after beating the Phillies earlier Friday.
