Jake Bird is moving on from MLB’s worst team.
The lowly Colorado Rockies traded the right-handed reliever to the New York Yankees in exchange for Roc Riggio and Ben Shields, the teams announced Thursday.
Bird, 29, had a 4.73 ERA over 53.1 innings of work with the Rockies this season.
The six-foot-three righty was drafted by the Rockies in the fifth round of the 2018 MLB Draft and made his major league debut with the club in 2022.
But with the Rockies at the bottom of the standings, Bird leaves the only team he’s ever played for to help the Yankees try to return to the post-season.
