The New York Yankees have added a veteran starter to act as rotation depth.
Carlos Carrasco has signed a minor league deal with the Yankees worth $1.5 million, according to multiple reports on Monday.
The deal has a chance to increase to $2.5 million including performance bonuses.
Carrasco, 37, is a 15-year major league veteran with 277 starts to his name. Last season he started 21 games for the Cleveland Guardians, pitching to a 5.64 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and 89 strikeouts over 103.2 innings.
The six-foot four lefty spent his first 11 seasons in Cleveland, played for the New York Mets for three years, and then re-joined the Guardians for 2024.
He projects to slot in at seventh in the Yankees' starting pitching depth chart, behind Gerrit Cole, Max Fried, Luis Gil, Carlos Rodón, Clarke Schmidt, and Marcus Stroman.
