The Philadelphia Phillies are hoping Adolis Garcia's past playoff heroics will be replicated in their uniform.
The Phillies have agreed to a one-year, $10-million contract with Garcia, according to multiple reports.
Garcia, 32, was non-tendered by the Texas Rangers in November despite playing a key role in their World Series title two years ago.
He homered in five consecutive games during the 2023 post-season, including his game-ending shot in the 11th inning of the World Series opener. That came after he was the AL Championship Series MVP with a series-record 15 RBIs against Houston.
But after he hit .245 with 39 homers and 107 RBIs in 2023, Garcia slumped to a .227 batting average with 19 homers and 75 RBIs last season.
Garcia had a .675 OPS over the past two seasons to rank 117th among 123 qualified hitters.
The Phillies have already made a pair of major off-season moves, re-signing slugger Kyle Schwarber and handing manager Rob Thomson a contract extension.
