A Canadian baseball legend is being honoured in bronze.
The Colorado Rockies announced Saturday that they will unveil a statue of Baseball Hall of Famer Larry Walker at Coors Field this coming August.
The Maple Ridge, B.C., native played for Colorado from 1995-2004, winning National League MVP in '97. Walker became the second Canadian member of the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2020, after pitcher Ferguson Jenkins (1991).
The Rockies will also unveil a statue of Todd Helton in September. Helton spent his entire 17-year MLB career in Colorado, and is the club's all-time leader in several offensive categories.
Walker was a four-time all-star in Colorado, also winning three Gold Gloves and two Silver Slugger awards during his Rockies tenure. He also played for the Montreal Expos and St. Louis Cardinals.
