The Kansas City Royals' rotation took another hit on Monday.
Kris Bubic has been placed on the 15-day injured list with left elbow soreness, the team announced.
Right-handed depth starter Eli Morgan was recalled from triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move.
Bubic struggled in his most recent start, allowing eight baserunners and five runs over a season-low four innings.
The left-hander has a 4.11 ERA with 51 strikeouts and 26 walks over 50.1 innings this season. Last year, his 2.55 ERA led all Royals' starters, and his 3.2 wins above replacement were second.
The 28-year-old joins Kansas City ace Cole Ragans on the injured list. Ragans also initially experienced left elbow soreness before being diagnosed with an elbow impingement.
The Royals are tied for last place in the American League Central with a 20-27 record and begin a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox on Monday night.
