The Kansas City Royals will be without their star shortstop.
Bobby Witt Jr. was placed on the 10-day injured list with low back tightness, the Royals announced on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old has been battling the back issues throughout the week. He missed Sunday and Tuesday's games and was removed early from Monday's contest.
Witt Jr. is slashing .279/.350/.450 with an .800 OPS through 94 games. He also has 13 homers, 39 RBIS and 30 steals.
The Royals called up infielder Andrew Velazquez to take Witt's spot on the MLB roster.
