Taijuan Walker to make Blue Jays debut Saturday vs. Orioles

Taijuan Walker talks about balancing being an athlete while also advocating for social justice.

Taijuan Walker will make his Toronto Blue Jays debut on Saturday against the Baltimore Orioles, according to manager Charlie Montoyo.

Walker was acquired by the Blue Jays from the Seattle Mariners on Thursday in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

The Blue Jays officially added Walker to the active roster Friday evening and optioned infielder Brandon Drury to the club alternate training site to make room.

Walker’s inclusion means the Blue Jays starting rotation appears set for the weekend series in Buffalo against the Orioles through to Monday.

The 28-year-old Walker is 2-2 with a 4.00 earned-run average in five starts this season and sports a 33-33 record with a 3.95 ERA for his career.
