Twin siblings experience a lot together, but only one set of twins can say they have been dealt to a new MLB team hours apart.
Tyler and Taylor Rogers became the first twins in major league history to be traded on the same day Wednesday.
Taylor Rogers was first sent from the Cincinnati Reds, along with prospect Sammy Stafura, to the Pittsburgh Pirates for former Gold Glove third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes.
Less than two hours later, Tyler Rogers was heading from the San Francisco Giants to the New York Mets in a surprise sell for the NL West team.
On top of sharing a birthday, the 34-year-old duo are both major-league relief pitchers, with strong track records, in the midst of outstanding seasons.
The right-handed Tyler Rogers has a 1.80 ERA and has appeared in a major league-leading 53 games out of the Giants Bullpen. Meanwhile, Taylor Rogers, a left-hander, has a 2.45 ERA in 40 games with the Reds this season.
The southpaw is a 10-year MLB veteran and was an all-star with the Minnesota Twins in 2021. Tyler Rogers has spent all seven years of his major league career in San Francisco. He is also a submarine pitcher, throwing from a minus-60 degree arm angle, the lowest in the major leagues.
