Chicago White Sox right-handed pitcher Mike Clevinger will miss his scheduled start Tuesday night against the Toronto Blue Jays due to right elbow inflammation.
The White Sox placed Clevinger on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 25, and right-hander Jake Woodford was called up from triple-A Charlotte to start in his place.
Clevinger holds a 0-3 record, 6.75 ERA and 15 strikeouts through four starts this season for the struggling White Sox.
He went 4.2 innings during his last start on May 24 against the Baltimore Orioles and gave up five runs on seven hits with three walks and five strikeouts.
Woodford spent the past four seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals and signed a minor-league deal with the White Sox in January. He has a 1-3 record with a 5.25 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 10 starts with triple-A Charlotte.
The 27-year-old posted a 10-7 career record and 4.29 ERA with the Cardinals.
Chicago (15-40) is last in the majors and has lost six consecutive games heading into Tuesday's tilt with Toronto (24-29).
Kevin Gausman (3-3, 4.47 ERA) heads to the hill for the Blue Jays.
Watch the game live on Sportsnet One and Sportsnet+ with the first pitch slated for 7:40 p.m. ET / 4:40 p.m. PT.
