At just 24 years old, Cam Schlittler is already etching his name in MLB history books.
In Thursday's winner-take-all Game 3 against the Boston Red Sox, Schlittler dominated, striking out 12 and walking none across eight scoreless innings of his post-season debut.
He is the first pitcher in league history to accomplish that feat.
The last to come close came in 1949, when Dodgers' rookie Dan Newcombe struck out 11 and walked none in Game 1 of that year's World Series.
It's also the most strikeouts ever from a Yankees pitcher in their post-season debut.
Needing just seven pitches to retire the side in the eighth inning, it seemed possible that perhaps Schlittler would go for the complete game. Instead, Boone pulled his starter after 107 pitches, 75 of which were strikes, and allowed David Bednar to finish off the Red Sox.
Schlittler started 14 games for the Yankees in their 2025 regular season, earning a 2.96 ERA across 73. innings of work, striking out 84 and walking 81.
