Blue Jays acquire Paxton Schultz to complete Derek Fisher trade with Brewers

The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired right-hander Paxton Schultz from the Brewers as the player to be named later in the trade that sent Derek Fisher to Milwaukee.

Schultz was selected by the Brewers in the 14th round of the 2019 first-year player draft. The 23-year-old product pitched with the rookie-level Rocky Mountain Vibes in 2019, going 1-3 with a 3.86 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP.

Schultz appeared in nine games for the Brisbane Bandits of the Australian Baseball League in 2020, where he posted a 3.29 ERA with 17 strikeouts over 13.2 innings of work.

Fisher suffered a left hamstring strain during a spring training game and has been on the 10-day injured since opening day. The 27-year-old hit .226 with seven RBIs in 16 games with the Blue Jays in 2020.
