Blue Jays claim catcher Nick Raposo off waivers from Cardinals

The Toronto Blue Jays have added some catching depth, claiming Nick Raposo off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals, the team announced Thursday.

Raposo has been optioned to triple-A Buffalo. The 26-year-old has appeared in 58 games for the Cardinals, hitting .193 with 16 extra-base hits and 28 RBI while posting a .994 fielding percentage behind the plate.

Raposo was signed by the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2020.

Toronto also optioned RHP Paolo to Triple-A Buffalo.
