Blue Jays’ Nate Pearson leaves triple-A outing with right shoulder discomfort

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Nate Pearson has experienced another setback as he tries to work his way back to the big leagues.

Pearson was pulled from a relief appearance with triple-A Buffalo with what the team says is “right shoulder discomfort.” He only threw two pitches in the game before being pulled and will be re-evaluated in the coming days.

The hard-throwing righty has struggled to stay healthy for a while now. He failed to break camp with the team this spring after being diagnosed with mononucleosis and he has been rehabbing with triple-A Buffalo since late May.

In six innings over three appearances with Buffalo this season, Pearson had a 3.00 ERA with nine strikeouts. He has only made 17 appearances at the MLB level since his debut in 2020 due to various injuries.
